About me

My background is in fine art rather than traditional jewellery design; I am interested in using adornment as a means of worn communication.

I use traditional jewellery techniques, which are technically challenging, to create works relating to ideas of stories and memories. I work with my archive of found objects, materials not necessarily associated with jewellery making. Usually coupled with precious metals I create works that present a narrative, whether one sourced from tales within folk culture, semi-autobiographical stories, or a comparable synthesis of the two.

Recent work, ‘Spinning straw into gold’ is based on the story of Rumpelstiltskin. I have made a fictitious machine to solve the problems of the Miller’s daughter thus empowering her to influence her own fate.
